Yes you got it all, it is online and everything is perfect. Then what? Do you even know what to do with it aside of putting the link on your business cards and brochures? There is where we get lost. “I need a website” well that is one of the best decisions you have ever made for your business. You find a perfect company and get a beautifully designed website that you always wanted. Then what? Yes you got it all, it is online and everything is perfect. What is next? Do you even know what to do with it aside of putting the link on your business cards and brochures? There is where we get lost and after a year we say “aarrgghh no big deal with these websites” or “I think it has a bad look, let me look for another designer”. Many people think once they have a website its done, well my friends it is just the beginning of a great work ahead for you to achieve your business goals using the website. By the way, what are the common goals that we all expect to achieve from a website? The obvious, visibility, More sales, good traffic, reaching targets, serve clients and etc…! Great! So how do we achieve our goals when we already have our website? Here is where the hustle begins. Below are 5 key points that will help you kick start working on your website

  1. Always know the position of your website on major search engines such as Google.

Remember one of our goals is to get our business visible out there. Most people use google to search for businesses and companies, are you available? Most people use key words to find services. For example: you are doing the bakery business and someone in Tanzania is trying to find a baker for his party cake. He will search best bakery in Tanzania etc… and so many other key words. Does your website have those keywords to be able to be visible during search? Which page number of google are you in when your services are searched? Are you aware people go for number 1 and 2 page since it is more convenient and fast. Always monitor and know where you are on major search engines and if you are reachable. You can always improve your position on search engines by doing a number of things like on-site Search Engine Optimization, you will need an expert for this or even your designer can do that, updating your website so it becomes active always and other tactics

  1. Track your website Traffic

Do you know how many people visit your website? Where are they from and what pages they visit? It is important to know all these analytics to get your website achieve your goals. It is with this data that you will know where to improve, what is mostly needed and if your website is doing well or not. Many people have a website 2 years plus and don’t even know if people visit their website or not yet they keep paying for yearly hosting services and probably maintenance costs. You can monitor your traffic with google analytics tool and even live chat components with analytics features.

  1. Advertise to create awareness and generate traffic

This is the best part, you have just recently launched your website and it is not like you are AZAM or KIDOTI where people would just go straight searching your business name. No one knows you out there, so how do you expect people to know about your business in the first place? And how will they know you have a live website there? Advertise it. We have come across social media ads like on facebook, Instagram, youtube etc and we also see google ads….. you can also use popular websites and blog directories to put your links out there. With these advertisements, you reach thousands of people and are all directed to your website if interested. With the large traffic and awareness you created, you cannot miss a sale, one or two if you will also be doing action pointed on number 2 and 4.  

  1. Engage with your website visitors

You have a live chat module or the google analytics tools or any other tool you use to monitor your traffic, what is important is to engage with them by chatting online or attending to the forms they filled from your website. This way, visitors feel they contacted the right person and were attended as if they reached your office. With this engagement, you get to win more deals.

  1. Regular monitoring and maintenance of your website

What is more disappointing than visiting a website in two years having the same contents and looks without a single update? It seems these people may not be there or what? No new clients or projects added! No news! The website is dormant. You are chasing people away. It is important to keep updating your visitors with information and making your website active. Avoid having a boring website… change styles of presentation. This also make search engines to keep promoting you and don’t be surprised if you find your website on page one of google within a short time getting many clicks to your website from potential customers and that is what your website should be doing for your business and not just a show
